BMW N54

The N54's potential depends heavily on the parts used, but MHD Flasher is effectively a must. Its logic changes allow higher boost than stock, steering-wheel map switching (up to four maps) and full Flex Fuel software. We supply and install the parts you need.

Stock turbos can reach more than 400 hp, especially with ethanol blended into the fuel. Many N54s are now at an age where the turbos need refurbishing, so owners often upgrade to hybrid turbos at the same time. We have a lot of experience with FIN-Turbo units, which put output in the 550–650 hp range.

Fuel supply becomes the bottleneck quickly on these engines. The key upgrade is the low-pressure fuel pump, for example a Walbro 450, which works well with FIN-Turbo Stage 2 turbos: around a 50/50 mix of 98 octane and ethanol gives 550–580 hp. Going past 600 hp calls for a Stage 3 pump solution plus port injection, or spinning the high-pressure pump faster.

Ignition coils are weak parts in stock form and we strongly recommend upgrading to stronger and more reliable B58 OEM coils. It requires a conversion kit and we recommend SETES conversion kit which you can find from setestech.com and kauppa.bcmotors.fi webshops.
